Dramatic Book Reading of a New Trail Guide
February 17 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
AshlandTrails.com – The Book
The local trail website is now in a local book.
“What does a dramatic reading of a trail guide sound like?” you ask. Nobody is really sure so it’s gonna be a helluva thing. Hopefully it is super fun.
The website AshlandTrails.com has slowly amassed the most comprehensive collection of local trails in the Rogue Valley. The website is much more than just one map and photos of seasonal flowers. There is a video tour of each trail, complete with parking explanations, video of trail conditions, and commentary on special features.
All of that information has now been jammed into a book! The revolutionary layout uses QR codes so that readers can use their smart phones to access maps, videos, or the AshlandTrails.com website for complementary information. The regular trail guide information – elevations, maps, difficulty, distances – is all there in the book but, the connectivity to the internet is unique.
The book stands on it’s own as a funny, conversational trail guide. As the introduction explains,
“This book is like taking a hike with an old friend from high school. The goal is to find fun things, get back to the car without getting lost, and having some great stories to tell at work the next day. Other books are fine, but it’s more like hiking with your old college instructor with lots more information than you want while they’re trying to remind you that they have an English degree.”
Available at the Northwest Nature Shop, Bloomsbury Books, one of the Paddington stores, and more.
