Help count birds that visit the feeders at the North Mountain Park Nature Center while learning
to identify species with expert birders. This is a great opportunity for all-levels of birders to get
acquainted with local species and mingle with other birders under the covered pavilion. The

information collected will be submitted to Cornell University’s FeederWatch project, a
nationwide citizen-science bird monitoring effort. Bird watching takes place alternate
Saturdays, November through March. Pre-registration is not required for this free program. For

Imagine a polite pooch you can take anywhere that doesn’t bark, jump on people or pull on the
leash. You can do it! Come and learn the basics to a well-behaved dog: no jumping, stay, settle,
come, leave it and nice leash walking. Learn how these basic skills will teach your dog to be
polite in any situation. For friendly, healthy dogs that are safe on a leash. Classes are taught by
Colleen Shanahan.
WHO: Adults 18 and older with dogs older than 5 months
WHAT: Owners and dogs will learn positive ways to train for settle, stay, come, leave it, leash
walking, no jumping and more

Good Puppy Skills

Bring your puppy to learn manners training plus social skills. Puppy will learn sit, down, stay,
come and leash walking. Time will be set aside each week to answer questions about house
training, chewing, barking and more! Please bring shot records to the first class. For friendly,
healthy dogs that are safe on a leash. Classes are taught by Colleen Shanahan.

Check out a new way to get a great workout, make new friends and enjoy the lifelong sport of
rowing. All abilities are welcome. Please bring water bottle and wear athletic clothing in layers
to stay warm!
WHO: Adults interested in learning how to row and/or a great exercise program you can go
your own pace
WHAT: Technically focused class to learn proper rowing and safety skills in a social group
exercise format. Options are available to continue including in-boat rowing when weather
allows.

Balkanic Explosion

Balkanic Explosion is a folkloric repertoire, taking you on a cultural journey through Southern
Slavic dances. Please wear comfortable clothing and gym/dance shoes. This class is part of our
Ashland World Music Festival Education Series which is a fun way for people to experience
cultural traditions from around the world! The Music Festival will be held Memorial Day
weekend in Lithia Park, details at rogueworldmusic.org/awmf.

WHO: Those interested in world culture, able to move freely without knee/ankle pain
WHAT: Instruction in circular dances from Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Greece. In addition
to steps, students learn musicality and historical significance of steps and music.

Gather around and see what Brenda Bear and friends are up to. A brief lesson will be followed
by the puppet show and play time. A snack and related craft/activity will then be available.
Enjoy a new show each month. Reservations are guaranteed only until 10:30 a.m. Please arrive
early, as space and parking is limited (no late seating). Children must be accompanied by an

Winter Bird Walk

The winter season is a great time to see the birds that spend the winter in our valley. Stroll
through North Mountain Park Nature Center with expert birding volunteer Vince Zauskey and
learn to identify birds by sight and sound. Participants should dress for cold weather and bring binoculars (some binoculars will be available to borrow). All levels welcome. For more
