We are pleased to announce that an “Access History” grant from the Jackson County Cultural Coalition will allow Historic Jacksonville, Inc. to open the historic C.C. Beekman Bank to the public again this summer.  “Banking hours” are 11am to 4pm, Friday through Monday, from May 25 through September 2. This free, open community gardens tour at seven Rogue Valley locations shows you local spaces provided by a city or private entity that allow folks to pay a very small yearly fee to rent a plot. “Walk through History” visits government and commercial buildings, fraternal lodges, and homes that capture the stories of Jacksonville’s National Historic Landmark District and the people who transformed a gold rush town into Southern Oregon’s 19th Century social, governmental, and commercial hub.  The tour leaves from Jacksonville’s “Courthouse Square” (“New City Hall”) on North 5th Street between West C and D streets.  And it’s FREE!

Tours highlight upper class 19th Century lifestyle, changes brought about by the Industrial Revolution, and Victorian architectural and design innovations with costumed docents adapting the tours to guests' areas of interest.  These half hour tours begin every 20 minutes between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the 1873 Beekman House, located at 470 E. California Street in Jacksonville, and provide insights into upper class Jacksonville lifestyle during the late 1800s.

Haunted History Tour

Four tours and two tour routes are offered each night.  Both tour routes feature haunted houses, but the 7 and 7:30 p.m. “Courthouse Tour” shares tales of brothels, epidemics, and hangings; the slightly more strenuous 7:15 and 7:45 p.m. “Britt Hill Tour” focuses on arson, saloons, and Oregon’s first Chinatown.

AAUW Spring Garden Tour

SIX private gardens will be open to the public June 8, 2019 as a fundraiser for AAUW scholarships for local women.
