The Land Remembers: Landscapes of the Rogue River Wars

August 2 - September 13

“The Land Remembers” is a series of black-and-white infrared landscape photographs inspired by significant events that took place during the Rogue River Wars of 1851-56. This important chapter in our state’s history has largely been forgotten outside of Southern Oregon.

Photographs in this exhibit are the artist’s response to the sublime landscapes encountered as Bergeman explored the country, “following on the trail of ghosts and putting myself in those places where I could feel the history I was reading about.”

Exhibition sponsor: Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians

Gallery One – The Featured Artists for August are Susan Paul-Williams (pottery), and Catherine Wiley (acrylic painter). During First Friday each will be giving demonstrations.
