Seeking Proposals for Fred Fields Artist Fellowship
November 9, 2018 - December 14, 2018
The Oregon Community Foundation and Oregon Humanities will soon be accepting applications for the Fred Fields Artist Fellowship program, a significant new fellowship program for early-career to midcareer Oregon-based artists.
Four artists will be awarded two-year fellowships to elevate their artistic practice while addressing the opportunity gap: economic and educational resource disparities among different demographics and regions in Oregon.
Applications will be accepted from November 9 to December 14, 2018. More information is available at www.oregonhumanities.org. Information on how to apply will be posted on November 9. A selection committee will review applications and award the fellowships by April 2019.
During their fellowship terms, Fred Field Artist Fellows will respond to and explore the opportunity gap in their region, participate in cohort gatherings, and document their experiences. Each fellow will receive a salary of $39,000 per year for two years, as well as health and dental benefits.
Artists of all mediums are encouraged to apply, including writers, filmmakers, visual artists, multimedia artists, and performance artists. Eligibility requirements include the following:
- Seven years of practice in an artistic discipline or combination of disciplines
- Three years of residence in Oregon and the intent to reside in Oregon for the duration of the fellowship term (spring 2019 to spring 2021)
- Demonstrable evidence of artistic practice that can engage with community organizations and/or address community concerns
Oregon Humanities will administer the program and convene gatherings for the fellows.
