Cooking Skills Education Program

January 1, 1970 @ 12:00 am - July 27, 2019 @ 8:00 pm

ACCESS is holding a free training for home cooks or nutrition

enthusiasts interested in sharing their time and cooking skills as educators.

The training session, taught by ACCESS’ Nutrition & Food Skills Coordinator, Barrett Gifford,

will be held June 27th 6:00-8:00pm at the Olsrud Nutrition Center at 2020 Cardinal Ave,

Medford. The training with cover how to offer a successful food demo or class, basic

cooking techniques, and a meal will be provided. The roles as a Cooking Skills Educator

includes offering one cooking demonstration a month or joining a team of volunteers in

teaching a community cooking class series.

Trained Cooking Skills Educators share recipes made with fresh, seasonal whole foods at a

variety of community venues in Jackson County. Recipes are simple and are the building

blocks for increasing proficiency in the kitchen. “The more we can encourage people to

incorporate plant foods into their diets, the healthier they will be” says ACCESS Healthy

Mobile Pantry Coordinator Tyler Johnson, Masters in Public Health (MPH). “People who may

not have had some of these vegetables can try a food like eggplant or butternut squash

and find they like it, after all.”
