Nia black belt and physical therapist Rachael R. Resch presents a “Nia Source Master Class” accompanied by live singing with composer Lis Addison on Friday, November, 8 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, at The DanceSpace, 280 E Hersey, #10, in Ashland.  Q&A with Addison to follow.  Early registration is $20, or pay $25 at the door. Please arrive 15 minutes early to register.  All levels of movement experience and abilities are welcome.

Addison is the composer and vocalist of the music for the Nia Routine “Source.”  The “Nia Source Master Class” will use music from Addison’s new album, “Zadaka,” but Addison will sing live to the recorded tracks.

“We are blessed to have Lis singing for us in person for this event,” says Resch.  “It’s a rare and fun chance to do Nia with live music and get to know the person behind the music.”

The Nia Technique® is an integrative movement practice based on the joy of movement and developed in 1983 by Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas.  Nia blends nine movement forms from dance, martial arts and healing arts to provide holistic fitness and self-healing for body and soul.

Composer, singer and dancer Lis Addison presents a “KiVo Sound Healing Workshop” on Saturday, November 9 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, at The DanceSpace, 280 E Hersey, #10, in Ashland. Early registration is $60, or pay $75 at the door. Please arrive 15 minutes early to register.  All levels of movement and voice experience are welcome.

KiVo – or Kinetic Voice – is Addison’s unique practice blending chanting and simple movement from yogic and world indigenous wisdom, as well as state-of-the-art research on the healing power of sound.  Participants will learn to use their voices as a powerful vibrational force to move energy and change patterns in a fun, playful and community-building spirit.

“I believe in the power of song and dance to create positive change in the world,” says Addison.  “KiVo is a ceremony for expressing the divine voice that resounds through each of us in order to heal individual, community and planet.”

One-on-one Kinetic Voice sessions are also available.  Contact Lis Addison at lis@lisaddison.com.

Lis Addison creates world music to inspire healing for individuals and for the natural world. Her newest album, “Zadaka,” is a fusion of sounds from Kenya, Tanzania, India and Standing Rock, and is the winner of the Global Music Awards Silver Medal.  “Zadaka” means “offering” in Swahili.
